Roman Reigns had quite a bit to answer for after his heinous attack on Rey and Dominik Mysterio during last week’s SmackDown. Reigns had cost his cousins, Jimmy and Jey Uso, the SmackDown tag team titles when he interfered in their match.
After he cost the Usos a potential championship victory, it’s safe to say that Jimmy Uso wasn’t happy with his cousin’s action. However, Uso certainly wasn’t the only one. Rey Mysterio was livid following Reigns’ attack and was heated following his brutal assault on Dominik. The Mysterios attempted to gain the upper hand on Reigns at the end of the night, but Reigns got the last laugh.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from the ThunderDome inside Yuengling Center in Tampa.
Reigns takes out the Mysterios
SmackDown began with Reigns backstage saying that he saved the Usos last week and that they owe him. Reigns added that he won’t stand for them embarrassing the family. Reigns knew that Jey Uso understood that, but he wasn’t sure if Jimmy Uso did. Following Reigns’ message, Jimmy Uso cut an in-ring promo in which he said that the Usos got robbed of winning the SmackDown tag team titles. Uso accused Reigns of getting the Usos disqualified on purpose. He added that Reigns is jealous that the Usos want to represent the family and win championship gold just like Reigns.
Later in the night, Reigns went to the Usos’ locker room and confronted Jimmy Uso. Jimmy Uso said that Reigns is a future Hall of Famer, but he’s going to be inducted as a “spoiled bitch.” While the two went back-and-forth, Jey Uso said he had enough and left. Reigns responded by saying that all he knows is how to be the best and asked Jimmy how he could put his brother in the middle of the two of them.
Then to close the show, Rey Mysterio stood in the ring and called out Reigns. Mysterio challenged Reigns to a match inside Hell In A Cell and proceeded to attack Reigns with a kendo stick. Reigns eventually fended off Mysterio and hit Mysterio with a Superman Punch. Reigns was setting up for a spear when Dominik Mysterio appeared on the ring apron and hit Reigns with a kendo stick. Reigns was able to catch Dominik Mysterio and launched him completely out of the ring with a powerbomb.
The seeds have been planted for Mysterio to take on Reigns for the universal title at Hell In A Cell. Reigns continues to be booked as a dominant force as he was able to fight off both Mysterios. In addition, Reigns stood tall without any help from either of the Usos. SmackDown continues to be dominated by the Tribal Chief and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. Grade: A-
