A pregnant mum has slammed shoppers who watched as she struggled to lift her trapped two-year-old out of a supermarket trolley.
Zoe, who is 17 weeks pregnant, was shopping in Asda in Edinburgh on Tuesday morning with her daughter Zara, when her toddler became stuck.
Frantic Zoe, who struggled to lift the weight of her toddler out of the cart, desperately pleaded with shoppers in the busy aisle to help, but told Edinburgh Live she was “stared at.”
Luckily an elderly woman came to her aid and helped the mum pull little Zara from the trolley seat, but the furious local can’t believe no one else tried to help them.
Recalling the ordeal, Zoe, 30, said: “It was on Tuesday morning, I was with my daughter and I just let her wander around the shop with me but she was getting tired so I decided to put her in the trolley seat.

When I went to put her in the trolley, she accidentally put one of her feet into the front hole.
“Her left foot was in the right foot hole and her other foot went down the side and got jammed.
She had her wee Doc Marten boots on and I think thats what had the issue was. She was screaming”
Zoe began trying to pull her daughter out but said that it was obvious that she was struggling with the weight of the panicked toddler.
According to the mum, only an elderly lady helped her while others looked on.
She added: “I am actually pregnant as well and I was clearly struggling.
I was struggling to hold her up, I couldnt hold her weight, shes quite a big girl for her age.
I couldnt hold up her weight and pull her feet up at the same time, the old lady who helped, it took her about three minutes to get her feet out.
I think thats what was upsetting as well is that people must have seen the old lady struggling and didnt even want to help her either.
There was a woman standing behind me who had a little girl about the same age as mine in her trolley and I looked down and asked her to help me and she just stared at me.
It was about three minutes after that the lady started to help me, there were about ten other adults in that aisle, I actually said to my little girl oh its busy down here.
I couldnt have kept her weight for much longer, and if her weight had dropped her leg would have snapped.”
Luckily Zara was not injured by the incident, but Zoe hopes that by sharing her story she can encourage others to help if they witness a similar ordeal.
