In a statement on Friday evening, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said this brings the total number of deaths due to the virus to 45 902.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers who treated the deceased patients.
“Our recoveries now stand at 1 335 618, representing a recovery rate of 90,8%.”
According to the department, 3 749 new cases of the virus have been reported.
This brings the cumulative number of infections to 1 470 516.
