The infant, known as Case K, does not have childcare outside the home.
The parents and a third older sibling have returned negative tests. The family has been transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.
The Ministry of Health says everyone in a Papatoetoe High School household must stay away from work or any other school, educational facility, or community setting such as the supermarket or any other place outside their house. The school remains closed and no students or staff will be able to return until advised by a medical officer of health.
“At this point, household members who are not students or staff do not need to be retested, unless they have symptoms or are asked to do so,” the ministry says.
As a result of these new cases, the Ministry of Health has updated its locations of interest. There are two stores that cases visited twice each.
One is Dark Vapes East Tamaki and the other is Kmart Botany.
A sign on Kmart Botany’s door says the store is currently close for cleaning.
“Our priority is to ensure the safety of our customers and team members. We apologise for any inconvenience,” the sign says.
“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this challenging time.”
