The lower North Island was rattled by an earthquake on Saturday evening.
Geonet initially recorded the quake as magnitude 4.2 centred near Porirua, but later upgraded to 4.5.
The quake struck 10km north-east of Porirua with thousands of reports of people having felt it, including in the Wairarapa and Wellington City.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand had not received any reports of damage.
