New coronavirus rule changes expected Friday
As coronavirus infection rates remain low across the country, Welsh first minister Mark Drakeford will be looking to further ease restrictions this week.
On Friday June 4, the Welsh Government will be announcing the results of its latest review on lockdown restrictions. The rules will then come in on the following Monday which is June 7.
The hope is that Wales could enter alert level one of the coronavirus restrictions. The First Minister has already indicated that this is the route the government would be considering – however, he has said this would only be the case if the virus remained under control.
Alert level one would be the lowest form of restrictions the country would have faced during the second wave of the virus and could see people being allowed to meet at homes and the reintroduction of larger events.
Speaking at a Welsh Government press conference on May 14, Mr Drakeford said: “If the public health situation remains positive, we will look at whether we can move to alert level one.
“This will include looking at relaxing the rules further around meeting people in their own homes, increasing the number of people able to attend wedding receptions and restarting larger events, building on the experience of our pilot programme, which started yesterday.”
This is what moving to level one could mean.
