Three teenagers are in custody after reports of a gun on an Auckland train.
The teenagers, who police said were carrying a fake gun, will be referred to Youth Aid.
A member of the public made a police report on Monday afternoon, saying they had seen a person with a gun on a western line train.
The person got off at Avondale station.
Police were notified at 4pm on Monday and briefly stopped trains heading in both directions to conduct a search.
The fake gun was not pointed at anyone and no-one was threatened or injured, the spokeswoman said.
