Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has explained his decision to not included striker Tammy Abraham in his squad for the Premier League clash against West Brom.
The former Aston Villa loanee has struggled for game time since Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge back in January.
He has made just four Premier League appearances since the managers arrival and has been left out of the matchday squad completely for the last five league games.
Abraham s last league appearance for Chelsea came in the 1-1 draw vs Southampton back in February.
His absence has led to speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge, with Villa said to be keen on bringing him back to Villa Park in the summer
.
The striker spent a season with the club back in 2018/19, scoring a total of 26 goals in 40 appearances.
Abrahams lack of game time for Chelsea has also been noticed by Villa fans, who are calling for the forward to be signed
when the transfer window opens.
Following the 5-2 loss against West Brom, Tuchel explained his decision to not included Abraham in his matchday squad.
He was not in the squad. I have to nominate 18 players. There are tough choices to make. We take the choices of what the game demands, of what we predict, of the substitutions that we have, he told TalkSPORT
after the game.
In the end, we have to select 18 players for more or less 20 positions. So we have to leave three players out and Tammy was one of the three players.
Its nothing personal or nothing big. He has the same chance to play every three days like everybody else.
Abraham could get his chance under Tuchel when Chelsea take on Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final tie on Wednesday night.
