A person died Saturday afternoon in a brazen daytime shooting near a busy shopping centre in Delta.
The shooting happened along 72 Avenue and Scott Road before 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Delta Police responded and located a male that had been shot.

The area near the Scottsdale Centre parking lot remains behind crime scene tape, and a yellow tarp was placed on a vehicle in the Eastbound sidewalk of 72 Avenue.
A Shell gas station also has been taped off as officers examine the scene and interview witnesses.
Many people were in the area at the time and officers said it was fortunate that no one else was hurt in the shooting.

“We are very much aware of the possible risk to innocent bystanders, said Delta Police Insp. Guy Leeson.
Police also examining a video taken a short time after the incident from a witness in the parking lot.
The video had been posted to social media.
Delta Police said the initial evidence indicates this was a targeted shooting, but did not reveal the identity of the deceased.

Police also not saying if the shooting is connected to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict which has erupted in recent months and left several dead.

A short time later Burnaby firefighters were called to an alley in the 37-hundred block of Clinton near Boundary Road for a vehicle fire.
Investigators did not confirm if the car fire was connected but the vehicle’s description matches that of the getaway vehicle from the video posted to social media.
