Four unidentified militants were killed and one policeman was injured in a gunfight that broke out at a toll plaza on the 270-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Jammus Nagrota area on Thursday morning.
Four terrorists have been neutralised and one police constable was injured in the encounter at the Ban Toll Plaza, Jammu, with a joint team of the police, the CRPF and the Army. The area is being sanitised, a police spokesman said.
The national highway has been closed for the traffic.
These militants were travelling from Jammu to Srinagar in a vehicle when the security forces intercepted them around 5 a.m., following a tip-off.
The militants lobbed a grenade when the security forces asked them to stop at the toll plaza, triggering an encounter, the police said.
Preliminary reports suggest the militants may have been crossed the border recently from the Samba Sector and were on the way to south Kashmir.
Earlier, on January 31, three militants were killed when they opened fire at a joint party of the police and the CRPF at the Ban Toll plaza in Jammu.
