Hope is fading that talks on a trade deal between the European Union and Britain could finish today.
British government sources are suggesting the trade talks have stalled over what they say are last minute attempts by the EU to add in new elements dealing with the regulation of fair competition and state subsidies.
European sources are reported to have denied making new demands, but agree the talks did not go well yesterday.
Both sides have said they want to get a deal, and talks will continue.
However, hopes for a breakthrough by today or tomorrow appear to have been pushed back to early next week.
