Genoa coach Davide Ballardini reportedly met with Lasse Schone, but the Dane still has a long way back into the squad.
Schone was frozen out of the Grifone squad and Il Secolo XIX reports it could be difficult to heal the relationship between the player and the club.
The former Ajax star has been left out of the list of eligible players in Serie A and his agent claimed former coach Rolando Maran wanted to have the player available.
Genoa are expected to transform under Ballardini and La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested Schone could be brought back into the group for the remainder of the season.
And Il Secolo XIX now reveals the Dane met face to face with Ballardini, reiterating his wish to return to the Marassi with the rest of his teammates.
No big offers have reportedly arrived for Schone but the outlet also claims Cagliari and Torino are interested in the former Ajax man, with Monza prepared to bring him to Serie B.
